6 months after my baby’s birth, I have started becoming health conscious. I used to hardly take care of myself thinking that there is no time. I guess you too will agree with me. But my hubby believes “where there is a will, there is a way”. That statement made me think again. After making my baby’s feeding and sleep schedule, I started getting little more time for myself and I decided to have an exercise regime. What else can be better than having a healthy and sound body?
So I said to myself, “nothing doing, I am going to have a strict schedule for myself too”. Now having a baby and only you to take care of him does not allow you to go to a gym everyday. And Daycare can be little expensive for few hours. What can be done?
I realized my baby loves music and I love to sing and dance. And above all he loves when I dance. Sheer luck!! Hence I decided to kill 2 birds in one stone. Everyday, when he is awake, I put on the music, exercise and dance. There is one more benefit of this. My baby also tries to imitate me and shakes his hands, legs, starts cooing and enjoys himself.. And did I say only 2 birds? :)He is doing so much… music, singing (moving lips), dancing, exercise…lot of entertainment for him.. and for me.. I am on the way to having a slim body again. I am feeling so happy now.

Dream World - The land of the rising sun
After 2 days of continuos rains, the sun-god decided to shine on us. I am standing in my balcony and it feels great to breath the fresh air after the clouds have cleared up the sky. I like to bask in the morning sun, happy and contented about where I am and what I am doing. Sometimes it looks like a dream. I am working in Tokyo, Japan - The land of the rising sun, one of the world’s costliest city. It’s been more than 4 years for me here and I have enjoyed every bit of it with my hubby. It is a dream come true. In here, it is important to learn at least conversational Japanese language and I did it first thing after landing.
Another feather to my cap is, I am a MOM now and this feeling brings me a great deal of satisfaction and happiness. Richie was born here in Japan, this January, 2009. I started this blog because of him to pen down my thoughts about motherhood. I hope you feel good reading it.
I am proud of my son who is growing with each passing day to be a handsome individual. He is 6 months old now. He is learning and gaining the right skills and we are happily enjoying the days together. How good I feel to take care of his needs knowing that this li’l angel is depending on me for his every need. I know he will soon grow to be an independent person. Until then I am going to be loving mom, his guide, philosopher and above all his best friend.

The Super Mom
If you are a working or a non-working mom, you have to develop multi-tasking skills. We are the project managers, the financial ministers of our home and we have to see to it that every task is executed successfully. There is no room for delays and errors. Else you get lots of complains. ;)
Agreed that working moms may have added responsibilities, but when you are full-time moms you tend to do extra activities of taking care of everything at home. From the start of the day, we are busy juggling and getting things done right from breakfast, laundary, cleaning, cooking, checking bills, food stock etc etc. The list is endless. On the baby side, preparing baby food, feeding, diapering, bearing up with tantrums during feeding and otherwise etc. We feel we have to make everyone happy. We want to get most of the things done in the few hours we have. Sometimes I feel, “I wish I had more time”. I would rightly give the title “SUPER MOM” to all of us.
Do you think it is worth it? No doubt about it!! It is worth every second. The joy you see on your baby’s face wipes out all the tiredness. The love and laughter makes you do more and more for him. The hugs and the wet kisses on your cheeks are enough to get you rolling…. These days will pass soon.. There won’t be these tiring days and mind you…there won’t be these hugs and kisses too. So make the best of these lovely days.
Though I am saying all this, do not be a SUPER MOM all the time by doing everything on your own. We tend to get so engrossed with home and children that we loose touch with ourselves. Ask for help whenever required, maybe from your hubby, your parents, your friend or a good old neighbour. Take time out for yourself too, so that you feel rejuvenated and can shoulder responsibilities in a better way.

I am a proud mom of a 1 month old boy
I am a proud mom of a 1 month year old baby. How I love to hold you in my arms and give you the loving squeeze. Life is different with you in our lives. We are both trying to understand each other and to know what each action means. I have come to know when you want your mom near you just to hold you and feel the warmth. You are a good boy. You recognize my voice from a distance and turn your head in that direction. You search me in the crowd and smile when you find me.:) You make me so complete. It feels so great to be your mom, my darling.
My Baby is a Reality
Finally the day dawn and I am holding my little angel close to my heart. It was a normal delivery. It happened almost 1 week in advance as compared to the delivery date. Maybe he wanted to see the world sooner rather than wasting more time in my tummy:). He felt he has grown enough and can survive well in the new world.
I had completed 38 weeks 4 days. I was working a lot at home doing cooking, cleaning etc. It started with mild contractions and went on for almost 2 days. It was regular contractions happening every 20 minutes. Then the contractions became frequent with a 5 minutes interval. We called the doctor and he said to visit him. The doctor diagnosed and said that the cervix has opened to 6 cms and it is time to admit. So finally I was there in the hospital for my delivery after the 9 months. I was very anxious. The contractions were unbearable. I was tired due to lack of sleep the previous night because of the contractions. The mid-wife took me on the delivery bed and I was praying that everything goes on well. The labor pains became stronger. My water bag burst open. The mid-wife checked and said the cervix had dilated to 10cms and it was time for the baby to come to this world. I was very excited and trying my best to bring my baby out in this world. It was not that easy as this was my first time. The best part was that my hubby was with me, holding my hand firmly and reassuring me that everything gonna be all right.Hubby dear, what would I do without you? The delivery took about 2 hours with me trying my best to stay awake during contractions and sleeping in between. At one point I almost gave up, but the excitement to see my baby kept me going on... He was there at last. He cried a little to tell that he is here. I just could not hold back my tears of joy. All is well that ends well. I am getting goose bumps as I am recollecting and writing this down. The doctors were very helpful and took special care of me. All in all it was a wonderful experience. I would say we should experience the joy of being a mother. It is life-changing.

28 weeks 3 days
In the 3 trimester (9 months of pregnancy) our baby grows from an embryo, to fetus and then to a fully grown baby. As the baby grows, we also feel a lot of change in our bodies, physically as well as emotionally. Every trimester brings along with it a new experience, a new hope.
In the first trimester (1-3 months), when the baby is developing from a tiny dot to an embryo, we find it difficult to adjust to the changing needs of our body. The first 3 months, make you feel tired and sleepy. You really start feeling it strongly in the second month. The food taste changes and sometimes you even dislike your favourite foods. The chocolates and cakes I used to love suddenly felt like un-eatables. There are rounds of throwing up of food and feeling restless at nights with the need of going to the bathroom often in the middle of the night.
The second trimester (4-6 months) are quite enjoyable. You get your appetite back again and feel energetic. Baby also grows to a fetus with all it’s body parts developing well. He/she can move his hands and legs and plays in the womb.
The third semester (7-9 months) is a kind of combination of the earlier 2 semesters. Your appetite increases due to baby’s demands for food. He is a growing individual and needs lot of healthy food. You may feel a bit tired as your big tummy puts a lot of pressure on your back and legs. You may find yourself craving for sweets as baby develops a sweet tooth. Now this can be bad as that in turn increase your weight exponentially.
In all it is important to have good control on your physical and emotional state. Your body tells you exactly what it needs, but sometimes we need to control our whims and fancies too. :)

27 weeks 4 days
27 weeks 4 days and I am coming close to the 40 weeks pregnancy journey. As the BIG day draws nearer, I am little anxious but happy thinking of the day my baby will be in my arms.
These days I feel my body tightening and it scratches a bit. Standing for long time makes me feel a bit tired due to the weight of the baby. Also there is pain in the lower back (the hip bone) if I sit continuously for long hours. Getting down from the train and climbing the flight of stairs makes me want for breath. I find myself standing on the stairs and puff my lungs out.I see to it that I go for walks and do light exercise and massage especially for my neck, shoulders, back and legs. There is little blood oozing from the nose. Read that it is caused due to the increase in blood pressure in the body. I guess there is nothing to worry though.

Pregnancy - 23rd week
I am back after a little break. Got a little tied up with other stuff and could not blog much. Hope you are enjoying reading my posts. It will be nice to hear your experiences too. It will give me sheer joy to know that you too have similar experiences as mine. We cannot generalize that we all will feel the same, but more or less the feelings are similar.
Pregnancy has taught me lot. I have become more patient and deterministic to achieve my personal as well as professional goals. There is an added responsibility and every parent wants to give their best to their children. It is very important to maintain a balance in your life, catering to the needs of the family as well as being a helping hand in the finances.
For a women, motherhood is a very important phase of life. The bliss is incomparable to anything in this world. To enjoy this, we need to plan a few things in advance so that everything goes on smoothly. As the BIG day is drawing nearer, you need to plan out your maternity leave and the time when you will join office back again. You also need to get the necessary things required for the baby. Baby bed, pram, clothes, baby tub, feeder bottles, toys, etc.etc. If you are away from your family, it is very important to be mentally strong so that you and your hubby can handle things on your own. Hubby has to do all the running around when you are in the hospital so try to put as many things in place as possible before you go into labor.
Having said all of the above, we have to remember only one thing “BE HAPPY ALWAYS” :).Our baby feels the way we feel. Try to read good books or watch funny movies. Decorate your room with some happy and healthy baby pictures. Do not let the outside world affect your mood much. Everything falls in place. Right things happen at the right time!!

Planning for Motherhood
The physical health of the mom and dad before pregnancy affect the health of their future baby. When my hubby and I decided that we will have a baby, we thought it will be good to do some pre-planning so that our baby is healthy, strong and smart.
A baby’s organs begin to form in the first four weeks of pregnancy, before many women even know they are pregnant. So we did the following
• Got a pre-pregnancy checkup, including a dental checkup.
• Started eating healthy food, maintaining a healthy body by swimming, doing aerobics etc.
• No smoking and avoiding secondhand smoke.
• No alcohol.
• Avoided infections because some can harm a fetus.
• Avoided hazardous substances and chemicals.
• Talked to the health care provider about our family history, genetics and birth defects.
• Tried to maintain a cool and calm life free from stress.
